8 Best Experiences of 2015
Every year, a few days before New Year’s Eve, I like to reflect on the year that has just gone by.
It’s a great opportunity to check in with yourself and make sure you’re content with the life you’re living.
If your are, this exercise will bring back great memories and if you’re not satisfied, now is the time to make some changes and take some good old resolutions!
As for myself, 2015 has been absolutely amazing. This year was filled with many adventures and excitement!
Without further ado, here are my highlights of 2015!
1. I travelled solo for the first time
… And loved every single bit of it! Though I had already a few trips under my belt, I was always accompanied by a friend. This journey to Indonesia was a both scary at first and very “free-ing” experience!
2. I got certified as an Open Water Diver
Took advantage of my stay on Gili Meno to overcome my fear of diving too deep underwater and to discover the underwater world and its inhabitants!
3. Taught English in rural Indonesia
I knew I wanted to do some kind of volunteer work while traveling solo in Indonesia. This lead me to a town close to Bondowoso, in East Java, where I got to live with locals and fool around with kids!
4. I biked down the world’s most dangerous road
Also known as the Death road, in the Yungas region of Bolivia. The gravel dirt track links La Paz to Coroico. It takes you on a 69 km ride with a descent of more than 3600m!
5. I went on a 3 day trek
Though Mount Rinjani (3726m), located in Lombok, Indonesia, isn’t the highest mountain I have climbed so far, it was the first time that I was going on what I refer to as a real expedition in the mountain!
6. I ran my first half marathon
A goal I had set for myself last year. I am proud to say that I did it in 2 hours!
7. I visited one of the New Seven Wonders of the World
… 4 more to go! So far I’ve been lucky enough to have gone to The Colosseum, in Rome, Italy and The Great Wall of China.
8. I crossed a dream off my bucket list!
Going to the Salar of Uyuni (and Bolivia in general) had been a dream of mine for years, more particularly since I had seen that french TV show “Pekin Express” (similar to the Amazing Race), the year it was taking place in Bolivia. Needless to say that I was not disappointed!
These were some of the moments that got me smiling from ear to ear. Now comment bellow telling me what were your highlights of 2015? And what are your hopes and goals for 2016?
